Today CVFC members trained with the MTA and NJT instructors at the Port Jervis train yard on emergency train rescue and fire fighting tactics. Members were instructed on train safety and operations. How to safely disable power and secure brake systems. Simulated passenger rescue exercises were conducted under heavy smoke conditions. These CVFC members are now better prepared to handel train emergencies in the Woodbury Fire District.

WOODBURY - Police are investigating why a bus caught fire today in Orange County. The Kiryas Joel bus burst into flames just off Route 32 today near Woodbury Commons. Fire officials say the driver did get off the bus safely. There are conflicting reports about whether anyone else was on the bus when the fire started. CVFC as part of the Woodbury Fire Department helped put the blaze out this morning.
